Southport Sharks, one of the largest clubs in Queensland, recently introduced their new brand and website.
With the anticipation of Mantra at Sharks hotel approaching, it was clear the Southport Sharks brand needed to reflect its new position within the marketplace.
Dean Bowtell, Southport Sharks CEO, said our brand plays a significant role in representing the future of our club.
“The club is growing,” explains CEO, Dean Bowtell, “and with the introduction of the hotel, our brand will be exposed to new customers and organisations. The brief to our designer Matt Vergotis, was to deliver a contemporary representation that recognises our heritage, values, and reputation within the community.”
“The brand needed to be flexible to meet the club’s diverse attributes in delivering sport, leisure and entertainment services.” said Mr Bowtell.
As part of their keeping it local philosophy, Southport Sharks utilised the services of local designer, Matt Vergotis.
“My goal was to design a logo to reflect the athleticism of an AFL athlete. Ensuring this aesthetic was very important. Plus, the flexibility of the brand was very important, part of the brief was ensuring the brand could be implemented from football guernseys to corporate stationary” – Matt Vergotis.
