Brisbane’s Queen’s Wharf to host PCOA conference

Brisbane’s yet-to-launch $3.6 billion development will host the Professional Conference Organisers Association (PCOA) conference next year. The annual gathering is expected to attract 400 conference organisers in 2024.

Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA) and The Star Brisbane collaborated on the bid to bring the event to Brisbane to showcase Queen’s Wharf to the conference market.

The Star Brisbane’s chief operating officer for hospitality, Kelvin Dodt, said interest in the event spaces in the precinct had “surpassed our expectations”.

“We are incredibly proud to work with BEDA and PCOA to showcase the best of Brisbane to Australia’s top conference organisers, event planners and meeting industry professionals and help drive future business for the city,” said Dodt.

The last time Brisbane held the PCOA’s conference was in 2016.

“We’re thrilled to have secured this win for Brisbane, and eager to showcase our beautiful city, including the transformative Queen’s Wharf precinct, to influential event and conference organisers from across Australia and New Zealand,” said Lorelle Chittick, BEDA’s general manager of tourism, business and major events.

PCOA23 has just wrapped up in Adelaide with the announcement of Brisbane as the destination for next year’s conference wrapping up the event.

“PCOA24 is set to be a landmark event where attendees can look forward to fostering connections and driving business events forward,” said PCOA president Barry Neame.

“The Star Brisbane and the entire Queen’s Wharf precinct will provide an ideal backdrop for PCOA24.”
