Cliftons recognised as one of AFR BOSS Best Places to Work

Cliftons Event Solutions achieves fourth place in the AFR BOSS Best Places to Work for Retail, Hospitality, Tourism & Entertainment category

SYDNEY – 21 April 2023: Cliftons is thrilled to have been recognised as one of Australia’s best places to work, in the AFR BOSS Best Places to Work for Retail, Hospitality, Tourism & Entertainment category. At the presentation evening, the judges noted Cliftons commitment to flexibility, equality, wellbeing, and purpose as some of the reasons for its success.

“Our services and spaces are great, but our people make the difference in our ability to bring events to life for our clients. Collectively, we’re obsessed with creating remarkable experiences for our clients, and investing in our team with a range of people friendly policies and processes is one of the ways we can deliver on this goal. Every day, our team comes together to deliver for our clients in a collaborative and supportive workplace that I’m incredibly proud to lead,” says Vanessa Green, CEO of Cliftons Event Solutions.

All Flex Roles

Some reasons for Cliftons being recognised by these awards include our comprehensive leave policies, mental health and wellbeing programs, and an ‘All Roles Flex’ policy that helps address flexibility beyond remote work for a location-based events business.

“As a Global events solutions provider with venues across Asia Pacific, offering remote work is not a viable option for many of our front-line venue staff. But we recognised that flexibility and balancing work/life was a big focus for employees that strongly influences staff retention, backed up by an employee survey in 2021,” says Athena Chintis, Head of People and Culture, Cliftons Event Solutions.

“This led to us creating the ‘All Roles Flex’ framework that covers an array of flexible working options beyond working remotely. Policies like ‘Me Days’ have been enthusiastically adopted, with 81% of employees accessing this option in the first quarter. Since introducing the ‘All Roles Flex’ policy, voluntary turnover has fallen from 26% to 19.2%, and company ratings on sites like SEEK and GlassDoor have been positively influenced,” Chintis elaborated.

Since introducing ‘All Roles Flex’ Cliftons has:

  • Increased positive ratings from staff across multiple departments
  • Supported employees to reconnect with family overseas by extending their break with remote working options
  • Seen 81% of employees accessing Me Days in the first quarter (One Me Day per quarter is offered to all full-time staff to do something just for them – four times a year on top of other leave provisions)
  • 100% of new hires enjoy a paid mini break before starting.

Cliftons also have a range of networking, learning and development programs, including:

  • Coffee Roulette to randomly match employees to share ideas and experiences
  • Peer learning discussions
  • Internal conferences by business unit
  • Salary-packaged learning and development budgets
  • Ongoing career development discussions are now formalised, including support for career changes
  • Regular team and office celebrations
