GCCEC tracks ahead on key sustainability targets

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) is tracking ahead of key targets in its five-year sustainability plan, delivering strong waste diversion results at the close of year two.

A structured waste management plan is now embedded across all areas of the venue, driving a consistent approach to how waste is managed, separated and processed.

PRESS RELEASE: GOLD COAST CHOSEN AS HOST CITY FOR ASIA-PACIFIC VITREO-RETINA SOCIETY IN 2026

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) has won its bid to host the 19th Asia-Pacific Vitreo-retina Society (APVRS) Congress in 2026. The city has secured the event’s long-awaited return to Australia, its first since Sydney in 2015.
The APVRS Congress is a significant win for the Gold Coast, set to attract more than 2,000 international authorities, researchers and practitioners in vitreoretinal diseases. The three-day conference is projected to deliver $6.9 million* in economic impact to the city.

GOLD COAST CONVENTION AND EXHIBITION CENTRE READY TO REOPEN WITH APPROVED COVID SAFE PLAN

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) has received approval from the Gold Coast Public Health Unit to operate under its Site Specific COVID Safe Plan.

Developed in consultation with the GCCEC COVID Safe Task Force, industry bodies, government and health authorities, the plan covers all essential areas of operation including cleaning and hygiene, social distancing – with new floor plans, food and beverage service, training and record keeping.

EventsAIR Helps Event Organisers Get Back to Business with OnAIR

Over the last ten weeks, the EventsAIR team has been hard at work developing a virtual and hybrid extension to their 6th generation event management platform (EventsAIR) called OnAIR. Over 8000 attendees have experienced and tested the platform during this time and with its first major live successful virtual event under its belt, OnAIR is here to help get event organizers back to business.
