PRESS RELEASE: GOLD COAST CHOSEN AS HOST CITY FOR ASIA-PACIFIC VITREO-RETINA SOCIETY IN 2026

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) has won its bid to host the 19th Asia-Pacific Vitreo-retina Society (APVRS) Congress in 2026. The city has secured the event’s long-awaited return to Australia, its first since Sydney in 2015.
The APVRS Congress is a significant win for the Gold Coast, set to attract more than 2,000 international authorities, researchers and practitioners in vitreoretinal diseases. The three-day conference is projected to deliver $6.9 million* in economic impact to the city.

MEDIA RELEASE – New General Manager for GCCEC

19 December 2024 Gold Coast, Queensland Nick Jeffrey has been appointed to the role of General Manager, Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC).

The appointment comes after recognising the outstanding contributions Nick has made in his role as Acting General Manager. Over the past five months, he has been instrumental in ensuring continued smooth operations of the business, exceptional service delivery and ongoing client satisfaction. Nick has also been responsible for key stakeholder engagement.

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, opened in 2004, transformed the city’s event landscape. Now celebrating 20 years, it has hosted 3,612 events, attracting millions and showcasing international talent.

More trans-Tasman flights an opportunity for business events

Soon to be connected destinations in New Zealand are hoping for a business events boost.
In addition to the Gold Coast becoming Australia’s most connected city to New Zealand, with the launch of flights between the Gold Coast and both Hamilton and Dunedin from mid-next year, Jetstar will fly four flights a week between Sydney and Hamilton from mid-2025.

Gold Coast Queensland 1 July 2024 June 29th marked the 20th anniversary of the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC). Stemming from the recognition that the Gold Coast needed a purpose-designed facility to accommodate conferences, exhibitions, concerts and large-scale gatherings, the collaboration between the Queensland government and Jupiters Ltd, has hosted thousands of domestic and international events since opening in 2004.

Gold Coast Queensland 20 May 2024 The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) has appointed Anna Case as Executive Manager of Sales. Anna brings more than 25 years’ experience in sales, leadership and management to the role where she will lead the sales team in generating business opportunities for the venue and promoting the Gold Coast as the destination of choice for business events.

ICMS Australasia team celebrate record year, sunning it up on the Gold Coast

ICMS Australasia (ICMSA) celebrated the strongest 12 months in the company’s 57 year history with three days of staff development workshops and fab experiences on the Gold Coast in late July.

Off the back of conferences around the country, ICMSA Owner and Managing Director, Emma Bowyer, took the entire team away to refresh, refocus and get to know the new members of the company’s Christchurch office.
