New President takes charge at IAPCO – PCOA wishes to congratulate, long standing member, Sarah Markey-Hamm, CEO of ICMS Pty Ltd and the new President of IAPCO. The International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) is a not-for-profit membership association, registered in Switzerland. IAPCO Members are Professional Congress Organisers (companies, not individuals) that have qualified for Membership under the detailed application process by demonstrating that they consistently deliver PCO services to their clients and partners at high-quality standards.

I said at the outset that I am delighted to be welcoming you all in person, and I meant it – more so than usual when you consider the enormous challenges our sector and others have experienced over the past two years. I want to particularly acknowledge and thank sincerely the PCOA management committee – Paula Leishman and Karen Sainsbury, along with the PCOA councillors – Mary Sparksman, Mike Pickford, Anne Marie Quinn, Renee Bennett, Arna Wahl Davies and our fantastic team, who keep PCOA operating Maxine Tod and Cindy Axisa. What a team that has built the PCOA brand over the last 14 Years.

PCOA21 Postponement

The Professional Conference Organisers Association (PCOA) last night regrettably announced that it was postponing the scheduled annual conference, which was planned for Hobart later this month. Barry Neame, PCOA president, said the decision to postpone was not taken lightly.

Virtual events play central role in Australians’ working life as online attendance continues to grow

ONE in three of us now attend more than 10 virtual events a month, according to a new study that indicates the sharp growth in online events sparked by the need to work and meet remotely could become permanent.

More than half (51%) of the respondents to the Australian study 1 expect to attend even more virtual events this time next year, while four in five say virtual events can be “as good as or better than their physical event counterparts”.
