BECA meets in Canberra



Business Events Council of Australia (BECA) directors and councillors met for its recent board meeting at Australian Parliament House in Canberra on 25 July.

The delegation had the opportunity to meet with re-appointed Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham, to congratulate the Coalition on the federal election victory and return to Government.

Topics raised with the Minister included:
• Ongoing support for the Bid Fund Program
• Beyond Tourism 2020 strategy
• Australia’s Nation Brand project
• Importance of robust Business Events industry research.

The Canberra meeting also allowed the opportunity for BECA delegates to meet with the new Shadow Minister for Tourism, Senator the Hon Don Farrell.
