Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre wins gold at Mackay Isaac Tourism Awards

The Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre (MECC) is proud to announce its achievement of the prestigious Gold Award for Business Event Venue at the 2025 Mackay Isaac Tourism Awards, held on Friday 31st October.
This accolade highlights the MECC’s outstanding performance and dedication to delivering world-class business events, conferences, and exhibitions. As the largest convention facility between Cairns and Brisbane, the MECC offers a 1,090-seat auditorium, two plenary halls, four meeting rooms, a 100-seat studio, breakout areas, and an in-house professional conference organiser office.
In the past year alone, the MECC welcomed over 80,000 visitors and hosted more than 100 business events, including the Australian Regional Tourism (ART) Conference, Queensland Country Women’s Association Annual Conference, Queensland Mining Awards, Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (NQ) Conference, Resource Industry Network Professional Development Conference, and the Australian Sugar Milling Safety Conference.
Recent enhancements such as the MECC Event Portal, upgraded PA systems, and a strategic team restructure have significantly improved client experience and operational efficiency. With a 95% client satisfaction rating, initiatives like the “SHOWTIME” staff recognition program and real-time QR code feedback continue to raise the bar in service delivery.
The MECC remains committed to environmentally responsible and inclusive practices, with upgrades including biodegradable catering options, waste-sorting stations, energy-efficient LED lighting, and accessibility improvements such as Companion Card ticketing.
Executive Manager Andrew Bobeldyk commented, “It’s been a big year, and this award is a credit to our entire team. Their hard work, passion, and commitment to excellence are what make the MECC such a standout venue for business events in Queensland.”
