Annual Tim Birley Award
Earlier this year, the business events industry lost a good friend, mentor to many, and a wonderful colleague.
Tim Birley passed away suddenly on March 27th and will be sadly missed. To the PCOA community in true Tim form, he was an active member on our hotel sub committee, driving improved opportunities for all.
He was truly a professional in the industry, seen by all he came in contact with as a friend, who had that magic ability to blend outstanding customer service with solid business results. For those that knew him well, he was also a bit of a rascal at times!!
In honour of the legacy Tim left in the industry, in partnership with Pan Pacific Hotel Group, PCOA has instigated the annual Tim Birley award.
Tim was an industry champion – he was the ultimate professional, and truly understood how to balance customer care with results for his hotels. He took the time to get to know clients, and genuinely cared about the industry as a whole. He had time for everyone – this award is to continue his legacy of professionalism, and customer service, for someone dedicating their career to the industry.
The Annual Tim Birley Award recognises his contribution over many years to our Industry.
Award nominees should have under 3 years tenure in the business events industry. They may have a variety of roles within the industry, including hotels, pco’s, production companies, exhibition companies
Nominations for the award will open shortly and criteria will be distributed via the PCOA newsletter early in 2023
The 2023 winner will receive accommodation and flights to the 2023 conference, a full conference registration, PCOA membership for the year, and mentoring from a selected panel
The judging panel will include a cross section of industry personnel.
Tim we will miss you, but we are delighted to keep your enthusiasm for the industry going through this award for years to come.
