Centennial Homestead launches The Paddock, Sydney’s newest bar, dining destination & event hotspot

On Friday 25 October, Centennial Homestead opened its doors to The Paddock, a new venue in the heart of the iconic Centennial Parklands.  The picturesque dining destination will house a panoramic rooftop bar ‘The Treehouse’, overlooking the park as well as a casual daytime restaurant and open plan event space. Destined to be Sydney’s newest home away from home, The Paddock offers a city retreat located a stone’s throw away from the Eastern Suburbs and CBD.

Following 10 years of planning, The Paddock will be open to the public for breakfast and lunch every day of the week, as well as function as a world-class event space with a capacity of 220 guests with the option to extend out to 1,000 in conjunction with the neighbouring Oakroom.  The Treehouse will be open from 12pm to 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays and has a capacity of 60 guests.

The Paddock’s menu will hero local produce and seasonal and native ingredients with highlights to include tempura zucchini flowers with pumpkin, goats curd, dukkha and chili oil; roast half chicken with roasted vegetables, wattle seed bread sauce and spinach harissa; grain fed angus top sirloin MB2+ with charred broccolini, saltbush onion rings and cafe de Paris; and millefeuille with watermelon caviar, blood orange sorbet and mango cream. The Treehouse’s drinks menu will be headlined by premium Archie Rose cocktails.

To celebrate its launch, The Paddock hosted an exclusive bookable dinner ‘A Journey Through Nature & Spirits’ in collaboration with Archie Rose on Wednesday, 20 November. Guests will be treated to a bespoke three-course menu, curated by The Paddock’s Head Chef, Liam Kavanaugh, with expertly crafted cocktails created by Archie Rose Ambassador, Dan Ritchie. Menu highlights include Centennial Gardens charred peach salad with duck prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, rocket and raspberry vinaigrette; pink snapper with tarragon, sunrise lime, fioretto and sauce vierge; and blueberry cheesecake with honeycomb jam and native thyme cream.

Guests had the opportunity to explore both The Paddock and The Treehouse and experience its dynamic atmosphere and parkland surrounds. The event featured live music and entertainment, as well as a DIY cocktail garnish station featuring native ingredients with guests gifted a 200ml bottle of limited-edition Archie Rose Centennial Garden Gin to take home.

“We’re so excited to be opening The Paddock and Treehouse venues at Centennial Homestead to Sydneysiders. While both venues celebrate the local community and have a local charm about them, we want to welcome guests, far and wide, and those planning events to experience the dynamic new venues and their delicious, nature-inspired food and drinks that reflect the surroundings. Accommodating up to 1,000 guests, in the heart of Centennial Park, our purpose is to elevate events to new heights and inspire unforgettable experiences in one of Sydney’s most iconic landscapes,” said Kevin Zajax, CEO of Trippas White Group.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Centennial Homestead to launch their new venues.  Archie Rose prides itself in showcasing the highest quality Australian ingredients through its products, and that is exactly what The Paddock’s menu concept is based around. We have created a limited-edition Centennial Garden Gin in celebration of the occasion, which features native ingredients such as raspberry, native thyme, and sunrise lime, inspired by natives from Centennial Parklands,” said Dan Ritchie, Archie Rose ambassador.
