Professional association conferences held in Qld jump 69 per cent



Conference Monitor’s 2015/16 data shows professional association conferences held in Queensland during the period jumped 69 per cent to 268 events.

Conferences tracked by Conference Monitor showed NSW remained the most popular conference destination, with 272 events (down 5.8 per cent). Victoria maintained its market share with 264 events down just .03 per cent.

Delegate numbers tracked by Conference Monitor showed that some 435,628 people attend conferences throughout Australia in the period, with Victoria and Queensland attracting the most delegates at 139,893 and 105,921 people respectively.

Healthcare and medical organisations continue to dominate the conference market, with 350 events tracked by Conference Monitor in the 2015/16 financial year.

The data also showed that most business-to-business conferences took place in the September and December quarters with October and November the most popular months, with 182 and 161 events respectively. Although December through to June were not the preferred months to hold conferences, May remained a popular month, with 154 events. May was the third most popular month overall to host an event.
